About Cooper & Thor

It started with one dog, and a family that was worried — especially Cooper.

Thor is our family dachshund. Like a lot of dachshunds, his long back and short legs make him irresistibly cute, but unfortunately, they also make him much more prone to back and spinal problems than most dogs.

One day, that caught up with him. Thor faced a scary health scare with his back, ending up spending over a month at the vet hospital while he recovered. For Cooper, Thor's best friend and constant shadow, it was a long, anxious wait to get his buddy back home.

When Thor finally did come home, the road to recovery was far from over. He had to stay on strict crate rest for another 6 long weeks. That experience sent us on an urgent search for a crate big enough to comfortably fit a proper bed, a spot for his food and water, and room for nappy pads or reusable pads to handle his toilet business safely.

And when he was finally allowed out for short 10 to 20-minute stretches, we had to track down non-slip socks to make sure he wouldn't skid or slip on our tiles and slippery floors.

Everything changed overnight. Jumping onto the couch, hopping into the car, or navigating hard floors suddenly needed completely rethinking. We quickly learned firsthand just how much the right gear truly matters—because a ramp that is too steep, a bed without real support, or steps that slip can turn everyday movements into a real risk.

That is why we curate supportive, high-quality essentials for all dogs, with a deeply personal place in our hearts for seniors, long-bodied pups, and pets navigating their own road to recovery.

Why We Started Cooper & Thor

We didn't set out to build just another pet store. But going through that experience with Thor changed how we look at every single product in our home.

When you're dealing with a long-backed breed, senior care, or recovery, the market can feel overwhelming. You shouldn't have to guess whether a ramp is steep enough to cause a slip, or whether a bed actually supports a tired spine.

So, we decided to do the hard work for you. We built the range we rely on every single day in our own home:

• Telescopic and adjustable ramps that create a safe, gradual incline for cars and couches.

• Supportive orthopedic beds that cushion tired bodies and welcome long frames with open arms.

• Dog stairs and ramps built to protect joints and prevent risky leaps.

Every single product we bring into our store has to pass one simple test: Would we trust this with Thor? If it’s just clever marketing without real, everyday practicality, it doesn't make the cut.

So, we're just making it a little easier for pet owners. As you can see, our checkered donut bed is Thor's absolute favourite and the only pattern Cooper loves and wants to share with everyone, hence, it's the only donut bed and pattern we stock in our shop, carefully sized to accommodate all paws, shapes, and sizes!
